Duration

This isn't a class, this is your regular creative time! Social Sewing sessions are free sewing hours for you to work on your patchwork and quilting projects. Sessions are either machine sewing or hand stitching focused but both are about gentle progress and enjoying community and a creative routine that works for you.

Social Sewing Club is for you if you'd like to...

  • Make guaranteed time to grow a creative routine
  • Have dedicated tie to sew, undisturbed by family or household chores
  • Spend more time making and less time on your phone
  • Feel the wellbeing benefits that a regular creative practice can bring
  • Enjoy the company of fellow craft lovers and want to belong to a community of creatives
  • Have the support and encouragement of people who 'get it'
  • Need a dedicated space to sew and use of sewing tools
  • Get early booking access to Social Sewing sessions at a reduced rate
  • Sip bottomless cups of tea with biscuits while you sew!

How it works:

  • When you join the club you'll get priority access to all sessions. You will be emailed with the dates before they are made available to non-members so you can guarantee your place/s in advance.
  • Membership lasts 6 or 12 months from the date you join and you'll be emailed an exclusive code within 48hrs that allows you to book sessions with £5 off the non-member price. (Don't worry, if you want to book sessions straight away you will receive a refund for those sessions with your membership welcome email)
  • Sessions are 3 hours long and take place roughly 2-3 times a month on both weekends and weekdays. Days and times may vary.
  • You are welcome to come as often as you like, spaces allowing. Sessions may also be booked by non-members once they are live on the website so I advise booking early to guarantee a place.
  • I will be on hand for general support and advice and you will find your fellow quilters a font of knowledge too!
  • You will have use of my sewing machines and quilting tools if you don't want to bring your own and a bright and airy space to sew in.

Social Sewing sessions are for free sewing and for makers who can sew and quilt independently. If you are looking to learn patchwork and quilting I recommend attending one of my taught classes before joining. If you need 1:1 support I also offer a Quilt Clinic

Tools available to use include:

  • Janome sewing machines
  • Cutting mats and rotary cutters
  • Iron & ironing board
  • Scissors and snips
  • Quilting rulers
  • Fabric pens and hera markers
  • Tea and biscuits

There will also be a selection of tools, fabric and threads available to buy at the studio.

What you need to bring:

  • Your project materials (fabric, thread, batting) and instructions if needed
  • Any tools specific to your project not listed above
  • Homemade snacks very welcome (but not obligatory)!

When and Where:

Sewing Socials are held at 188 Highbury Hill, London, N5 1AU. Dates and times vary, see individual listings. Please check beforehand if you are booking a machine sewing or a hand sewing session. There may not always be room for a sewing machine if a hand sewing session is booked out!

The space is a one minute walk from Arsenal tube station which is a six minute journey from Kings Cross & St Pancras. It's a ten minute walk from Finsbury Park station or a twenty minute walk from Highbury and Islington station.

Please read the cancellation policy before booking:

Bookings are non refundable. Due to small class sizes it isn't always possible to transfer your booking to a different date but I will always do my best to fit you in. If you find you cannot attend a class please give me as much notice as possible and I will do my best to fit you in on another day.

Get in touch using the contact form below if you have any questions before booking. If you are looking to learn patchwork and quilting from scratch I recommend attending one of my taught classes.
